If you are in some college or high school, essay writing is one thing you have to deal with regularly. But not everyone has the required skills to write a good essay, and thus many fall behind in their grades, just because their writing doesn’t meet the standards.

Writing a quality essay doesn’t necessarily have to be tough though. Some essential principles need to be followed, like using the correct grammar, an enticing style, and some other requirements. These when followed and applied, make your essay a good one to read.

If however, you are struggling with your assignment, you can always connect with a reliable essay writing service in US. They will help you and guide you throughout.

What are the Traits of Good Essay Writing?

Here, we have come up with the basic five traits that good writing should have. Going through them will help you understand where you lack and what improvements you need to make to write a good quality essay.

1. Word Choice and Vocabulary

The words that you use in your essay can make or break it completely. So, choose your words carefully. You want your essay to be gripping and easily understood. So, using difficult or uncommon words, or synonyms of common words is not a great choice while writing an essay. Using synonyms forcefully will negatively affect the quality of writing, as it would then be complex to read.

Also, many words have a similar meaning but using one for the other may not be appropriate in the context that you are using it. Instead, use simple language and words and always use words that you know the meaning of. If you are unsure of what a word could mean in the context that you are using it, you can consult any good dictionary or use a word that you are confident about.

2. Fluency and Style

While writing an essay, the style you write in matters a lot. The words used should be precise, vivid, and describe what you want to perfectly. Maintaining a flow with no interruptions is a great way to make sure your essay is read with interest. For that, you can try using adverbs or prepositional phrases at the beginning of a sentence.

This will make the sentences interesting. The sentences should flow from one to the other without any interruptions and they should be of varied length. Avoid unnecessary use of transition words that do not add any value to your writing. Use them only where they seem fitting.

3. Organization

In writing an essay, your ideas should be put forward logically and clearly. Your arguments should be relevant and easy enough to be clearly understood. It’s tempting at times to go sideways to incorporate something interesting not directly related to the topic of your essay.

But doing that can make your writing lengthy or wordy and readers can get bored. So, stay focused on what you want to write and use simple, logical, and easy to understand arguments to make your writing a good read.

4. Voice

The trait that is hardest to clearly define in good writing is its voice. Voice is the heart of a writing piece and a good measure is to use active voice wherever applicable and sounds easy to read. But do not put undue stress on using the active voice. Use the passive voice as well wherever it sounds fit.

A generous mix of active and passive voice in your writing should make it clearly understandable and make it for a quality read.

5. Conviction

In your academic writing pieces, you’ll be writing as an authority who has knowledge on the subject concerned and persuade people to agree with your arguments. So, use a language that is convictive. Use words with conviction to show that you know exactly what you are talking about.

These are the five traits of a good essay. Writing an essay for your academics won’t be tough if you follow the above-mentioned points.

If however, you are facing difficulties in writing your essay or it seems to be tedious work, you can always connect with a trusted essay writing service in US for help and guidance.
